A Web Design Website?s Struggle
A Web Design Website?s Struggle
Not too long ago, we received a RFP (request for proposal) from a jeweler on the famous Hollywood west coast, to redesign their existing online store website.
Skygate Media takes RFPs very seriously. Our sales department spends hours researching for the company interested in our web pages designers’ talents, as well as the company’s competitors from within the industry, to show our perspective clients how we can and will make their website better and
outrank the competitions.
Here is a true story from a top web designer’s experience – “you do not need to say yes to every single project that comes through the door.”
Why not? It’s profit. It’s experience which is great for building one’s portfolio. It’s convincing. It’s fun.
As usual, we googled to find out more about the perspective client. Our team saw that the owner of the company owns many other jewelry stores in the area. The physical addresses of all of these businesses are in the same building, but in different suite numbers.
Then, rip off reports were all over the internet. “I bought something for ,000, I received the order and it was nowhere near its description, the quality is extremely poor. I couldn’t contact the company for a refund because there was no answer, and a week later the line was cut off.”
Skygate’s response? We didn’t take the project. We stopped communication with this person. We will never involve ourselves in any scam whatsoever.
Here is a couple “don’ts” any top website designers should commit to:
Don’t allow unlimited revisions! Because: It will simply drive you crazy and make you less interested in web design, especially the internet as a whole.
Don’t say yes to any projects! Because: Based on our true story above, you could be helping someone to spam the internet.
Don’t pretend! Because: If you are a true top website designer in New York, your talents will be seen as a specialty that helps a brand come out of its own self. You should be a brand youself.
Don’t be satisfied! Because: The web moves so fast, and Google is a dominator. Keep yourself posted on latest design technology and Adobe software updates. Be a “profitable” nyc web designer by having strong SEO understandings in your pocket.
